Her anxiety was more than just a pain in the ass

The job had been dropped in her lap accidentally. She was sure of it.

Muddling through her new position as Director of Client Relations, Rachael waited to be found out for the fraud she was.

Her anxiety ripped into high gear. It was hard to sleep –

But sleep was all she wanted to do. Napping became an escape from reality

Because reality felt really risky.

Avoiding risk became normal

Should she make that decision at work? But…what if…they think…I’m not sure…

Should she be in a relationship? That guy…what if…he thinks…just forget it…

Even when leaving the house, Rachael would want to dodge going anywhere that she’d move at a glacial pace –

Ugggg going to work…painful.

FORGET the gym…

Skip the grocery store – what’s in the freezer?

She was choosing to stay home & isolate…3 years PRE-COVID!

This was all so painful for her.

Can you imagine how completely paralyzing this is? The waiting…The struggling…

Being unable to take risks held Rachael back from effectively leading her team & growing her department.

When I met Rachael, her anxiety stole her time & energy!

It kept her from being at her best in her job because she double-checked & second-guessed every move she made!

Not good for the decisive nature a DIRECTOR of CLIENT SERVICES needs.

Imagine how hard walking into a meeting, saying anything, traveling, or meeting new people is when you question every. single. thing. you do!

I need to be honest about 2 things I’ve learned about anxiety:

  1. People with anxiety don’t understand how anyone lives WITHOUT anxiety because it’s such an integral part of their everyday lives.
  1. People who don’t experience anxiety don’t understand WHY people WITH anxiety can’t just “get it together” and “stop thinking about that stuff!”

Just DO IT…is not an option for them. That kind of thinking from the people around them – people they live with, work with, and love - only makes the anxiety worse.

Rachael’s anxiety made it hard for her to be an effective leader – because she couldn’t support her team until she learned to manage her anxiety.

She knew she needed to stop doubting everything she said, stop playing it over & over in her head.

UM, Ok – GREAT. BUT HOW?

Whether you struggle with anxiety – and it’s holding you back from the life & business you want…

Or you live with, work with, and love people with anxiety – and want to understand them better –

Please listen or watch this interview with Rachael.

She’s honest about what life is like for her – FOR REAL – and the ways she’s learned to MANAGE her ANXIETY so it doesn’t control her life or hold her back.

My favorite moment is when I asked Rachael “What are you most proud of?” –

Her answer? “I’m HAPPY now. I never thought I’d be able to say that!”

Thank you Rachael for your sweet honesty, vulnerability, and willingness to talk about this HUGE  thing you were willing to take a risk to overcome!

Xo, Jen
