What happens when people ask, "What do you do?"

I know that you've been on the receiving end of this.

You ask somebody what they do, or you're at an event, and people have to introduce themselves, and there are those people who go on and on and on, and they just never get out anywhere or the people who don't engage you at all. When we are doing these kinds of introductions of ourselves - it's a form of content; it's a form of marketing.

If your message is too generic and sounds like everybody else's, or it's too long and involved, and people walk away thinking I don't know what she's talking about or like, or I tuned out three minutes ago, then your message isn't landing, and that's why I want to talk to you today about your message.

Do you stutter when somebody asks you what you do? Are you terrified of somebody asking you what you do? That's an indication that your message needs to be crisper. If you have a five-minute explanation of what you do - I will never forget one time I was standing in a hallway at a tech place, and this guy came over to me. I hadn't seen him in years, and he goes on and on and on about this tech thing that he's involved with, and no matter what question I asked to clarify it, he just couldn't give me a clear answer. My eyes glazed over, and it literally was five minutes of me standing there trying to figure out how can I back away slowly?

If you have a message that is unclear, that you don't know how to say it clearly, and even your best friend can't describe it to somebody else if they say, what does she do? Then you have a messaging problem, and the message is everywhere in your business, so don't just think, "I don't go to networking events."

No, your message is everywhere! It's when people come to your bio when they come to your Instagram page or your Facebook page, your profile - it's what they see in your about page.

It's everywhere, and you need to stand out and differentiate yourself. I really want you to think about going from a meh message to a stand-out message, and that really requires you to think about what makes you different from other people and how can you put your personality into it?

Also, how can you talk about the pain points that you help people overcome? Are you really clear about rather than just talking about big broad things? Are you really clear about what you do to help people, and what are the results you help people get? So think about what you help them stop doing and what you help them start doing.

Think about why your message matters!

This is what we are talking about all month inside the Creator Studio - we are only mastering our message, we are nailing it down, and we are getting laser-focused because I see way too many people with super generic messaging like I help people transform, I help people feel better, I'm a life coach, or I'm an accountant or something really generic, and we need to sparkle and shine to your messaging.

If you feel like any of these things sounds like you - that you take too long, people walk away scratching their head when you overhear someone talking about what you do, and they've got it completely wrong.

It means that your message isn't clear, and that's what we want to focus on.

If you are really needing help, you want to join us at the Creator Studio. You not only get a weekly call with me, you get examples of me showing you before and after with feedback, and you get an accountability call every week, so we actually get this done and out the door.

I'm going to put the link below, but if you're struggling with your message and your message is kind of a mess, and you want it to sparkle - I have a solution.

I can tell you exactly how and that's what we're doing inside the membership this month. I would love to hear what you think about your messaging.

Do you struggle with your messaging?

Is it something that you've been kind of putting on the back burner and turning a blind eye to for a little while?

Because if that's the case - it doesn't have to be like that! It really is the foundation of your business. I would love to know, what is your message? Tell me I would love to hear it!

I hope this is helpful, and I would love to know how you feel about your messaging. Are you hiding from it, or do you love your message?

Bye.
