Realistic Tools For Growing Your Business
Some people think that because I’m confident that I don’t struggle with doubt.
Sure. Ok. I am confident. I show up as myself.
AND I struggle with doubt!
I worry that I’m not gonna get where I want to go. That I’ve hurt people along the way.
I worry that I don’t know what I’m doing. That I can’t really help my clients.
I think a little dose of doubt makes me reflective; it inspires me to excellence & hard work.
So, where’s the line between a healthy dose of doubt and a crippling case of it?
To help me straddle this wobbly...
I’m really excited to introduce you to my best friend Leslie Smith. Not only is she my best friend, but is also my former partner in my first business. Together, we learned a lot together and we could do a whole video on how it was working with your best friend. In this interview, we keep it real and I hope you enjoy her story.
There was a point in both of our lives where we were seeking something. We found this excitement around fitness that just seemed like the inspiration for an adventure. Leslie had been home with her daughter for two years, and she knew that she...
I bet you have a big BUT.
I talk to people every day with big buts.
And their buts get in the way!
I want to make a change, buuuuut…
I want to start my business, buuuut…
I want my business to stop sucking the life out of me, buuuuut.
But..I don't have time.
But.. I don’t know how.
But…I don’t think I can.
OH my lawdy!! That last one? That’s biggest goal-killer of all: DOUBT> .
How many times have you thought about making a change?
Do you doubt that you can really have it? Do you say, “Hmmmm, I don’t know if I can”?
And if there’s something you’ve wanted for a long time and have pushed down, something you’ve been resisting taking care of -
Then you might just be SICK of your OWN BULLSHIT right bout now.
Maybe you see that you’re in resistance somewhere. Maybe you know that the thing you want is going to require a new game plan!
How do you move out of resistance?
Great question! I’ll tell you HOW, aaandd….you probably will not like the answer:
Instead of resisting, try surrendering INTO it. Yes, it’s uncomfortable. But so is working around it.
I spent a lot of time with my mom’s best friend Beverly. She told me this story about someone who was once driving on the freeway behind a semi-truck carrying a load of used cars on a carrier trailer. Well, something happened where the carrier broke and the cars ended up killed this person Beverly knew of.
I realized on my way home, I still have that story in my head. I still have that anxiousness that I feel towards these trucks. My response is to drive safely and aware of my surroundings. Now, I’ve never seen one of them topple over....

Like, there’s something you have to do - you know you need to do it - but you’re so resistant to it that your brain brings up excuse after excuse why you don’t want to, can’t, or just simply won’t?
I don’t know anyone who HAS NOT experienced resistance of some sort!
Let me give you some examples of resistance to doing something hard & new:
If you’re someone that wants to start a business you’re probably telling yourself so many things that are keeping you from your goals.
I don’t have the time.
I don’t know how to do that.
I can’t stay focused.
The truth is this isn’t your fault!
We live in a world that is full of distractions all the time. Our focus is compromised on an hour by hour, even a minute by minute basis. Not only do we have the distraction of our family and home, but also our phones.
I want you to look at how many...
Remember my little love affair with resistance? When I had to go gluten-free - for the health of it?
CONFUSION showed up BIG TIME!
When I realized I needed to make the changes that my nutritionist had suggested, I understood quickly that I didn’t know HOW.
I’d go the grocery store & wander around thinking, What the hell is gluten? Will I never eat another piece of bread again?
And then, Is gluten in other foods - not just bread?
THEN came NEGOTIATING with myself: “Ok, well it’s Sunday. I’ll just have pasta today and start over again on Monday.”
If you aren’t getting things done, it’s because you don’t have enough time. It’s not that you aren’t capable. It’s not that you don’t know how. It’s that time is just slipping away.
I didn’t invent the technique, but it’s an incredible way to get your time back. This technique has you working for blocks of time doing a specific task, and then you give yourself a five-minute break. You physically get up and walk away from what you were doing. Then when you return to your work, you do it for the full time that...
